So there’s construction going on in the basement parking lot and no one asked me to move my car.
The forem an tells me the large gouge on my rear passenger door is someone trying to break in. Not one of their guys.
But clearly, someone has been working around my car because I can see someone leaning on it or something from the concrete dust on the driver’s side door.
I think they were trying to install that pipe on the cei ling on top of my car.
What do you think happened?

Looks like someone dropped something heavy.

I agree, looks like something was dropped on to the car.
If the job forman is being a dick about it, go to the management company of your building and tell them. They won’t be happy to hear this. Plant the seed that they hired the crew, so you want them (building management) to fix your car. I’m sure they’ll go after the construction company.
Sorry this happened to you. This sucks.

If that’s someone trying to break in, they’ve gotta be the dumbest criminal ever. Agree with the other posters, something clearly fell on it from above. Escalate to the management company and if they’re unhelpful, get the police to file a report.

i’d say something was dropped, especially since its on the door frame too

I would agree with the report, especially the foreman is claiming a break-in. Calls his bluff about it.

That’s either something has dropped on it from above or something heavy was leaned near it and slipped and fell in toward s the car (I’d even hazard a guess that it was something the same size or ever so slightly larger diameter of the pipe).

Ugh. That’s something falling on it for sure.
That sucks. Good luck

Foreman should change his title to full-of-shitman

That’s a structural part of your roof. Trying to pry the door open there would not dent it or remove that much paint. How do I know this? We help people everyday who’ve locked their keys in their car by prying doors open. Resultant damage is extremely rare. Your car was hit by a falling/swinging object.
Also, concrete dust, don't run it through a brush type carwash. Actually, probably just go ahead and get it detailed, that dust shit gets everywhere.

Well maybe get it repaired first before detailing it...

Let me know if you need a shop recommendation, I have a guy who worked on my car a few times for decent prices.

I wouldn’t wait. Get that dust off there asap. Just take a lot of pictures, video, etc. before getting it detailed.

I actually do need recommendations. I need to get an estimate on the cost.

Well then maybe not a detail but just a wash... can’t imagine doing a detail and then again after all the overspray from repainting.

My point exactly. The foreman was adamnt someone was trying to steal my car. I'm like whatever. I'm not a moron.

“The foreman tells me the large gouge on my rear passenger door is someone trying to break in. Not one of their guys.”
Of course he would say that. He doesn’t want to be responsible even if he is and will stay any bullshit to make you go away.
Take pictures, gather info including the contractor’s name, the contractor’s insurance
and if there are cameras, see if you can get some evidence from them and then look into filing a claim.

The place is under construction. Sadly there are no cameras :/

If someone wanted to break in they would break a window.

It was a ridiculously dumb excuse to get out of it.
